
The James Dyson Award 2025, one of the world’s most prestigious student design and engineering competitions, is now open for entries. This international competition invites students from 28 countries and regions to submit innovative solutions to real-world problems that can make a meaningful impact on people’s lives.
Started in 2005, the award offers a grand prize of £30,000 (approx. Rs 30 lakh) to the international winner, along with global media exposure to help bring their invention to market.
Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Criteria)
Must be currently enrolled or have studied within the last four years in an undergraduate or graduate program in engineering or design at a university in a participating country.
For team entries: All members must meet the educational criteria, and at least one team member must have studied engineering or design.
Apprenticeship candidates: Those who have completed a Level 6 or Level 7 apprenticeship within the last four years are also eligible.

How Are Entries Judged?
The James Dyson Award 2025 follows a multi-stage judging process:
National Level: A panel of external judges and a Dyson engineer reviews entries, selecting one national winner and two runners-up from each participating country.
International Finalists: Dyson engineers select the top 20 international finalists from national winners.
Global Winner Selection: Sir James Dyson himself picks the international winners.

In 2024, Komal Panda from Odisha, India, won the national prize for her innovation "Novocarry" – a portable cooling carrier for insulin and liquid medicines.
