Julana Election Result 2024: Vinesh Phogat has won from Julana constituency by around 6000 votes. Phogat, a former Olympian wrestler turned politician, was trying her electoral luck on a Congress ticket from the Julana assembly seat in the Jind district of Haryana. It is worth noting that the party last won this seat in 2005. Now after 19 years, this is the first time that Congress has won in Julana after Phogat's success.
BJP is leading on 50 seats
According to the latest update, the BJP is unexpectedly leading in 50 seats in Haryana. Olympians Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia - known for their athletic ability as well as for leading the wrestlers' protest against then WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh - had entered the political arena by joining the Congress last month.
Let us tell you, Phogat was in the fray against BJP candidate Yogesh Bairagi in the Julana seat. Other competitors include Julana's outgoing MLA and Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) candidate Amarjeet Dhanda and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate and wrestler Kavita Dalal. The Juliana seat was won by the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) from 2009 to 2019. Congress last won this seat in 2005.
