Kumari Selja : Congress general secretary Kumari Selja on Monday dismissed all speculations about her displeasure and considering leaving the party, saying that she will always remain a Congressman and will resume the election campaign in the next two to three days. Senior party leader Randeep Surjewala said that Selja will address an election rally in Narwana on September 26. Meanwhile, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on the Congress over the Selja case, calling the party anti-Dalit and saying that it has insulted Dalit leaders like Kumari Selja and Ashok Tanwar.
Shailaja is a prominent Dalit face of the Congress
61-year-old Shailja, the general secretary of the All India Congress Committee, is a prominent Dalit face of the party. She will join the election campaign after a gap of about two weeks. Voting for the Haryana Assembly will be held on October 5. In such a situation, the ruling BJP is constantly targeting the Congress for the prominent Dalit leader of the Congress to stay away from the election campaign. Recently, Union Minister and senior BJP leader Manohar Lal Khattar had invited Shailja to join his party. Former Haryana Chief Minister Khattar had also pointed to the alleged infighting in the Congress state unit ahead of the assembly elections.
Amidst speculations, he said- I am a Congressman.
Amidst all these speculations, Shailja came forward on Monday and said that BJP and everyone know that she is a Congressman. On the question of meeting with the Congress leadership, she said that discussions with the top leaders are frequent. Former Union Minister Shailja said, 100 types of things happen in the party, but those are internal matters. We worked hard in the Lok Sabha elections to make the party win, and worked hard even after that, so that we could strengthen the Congress party on the ground, fight for the people of Haryana, and fight for our workers. We have to take that work forward and form a Congress government.
The election campaign in the next two-three days
When asked when she would start campaigning, Shailaja said, I will start campaigning in the next two to three days. When asked about her meeting with the Congress leadership, she said that there are frequent discussions with the leaders, and they take our feedback. On the question of BJP's sarcasm and inviting her to join them, the Congress leader said, I was silent, so they said a few things. They also know and everyone knows that Shailaja is a Congressman. I have made it completely clear that I am a Congressman and I will remain a Congressman. BJP is trying to hide its shortcomings and that is why they are trying to divert attention from such issues. She said, BJP should first tell the people what they have been able to achieve in the last 10 years. On the contrary, people feel cheated in the 10 years of misrule of BJP.
