On the strengthening of medical education in the state, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that this year the state is getting the gift of 17 new medical colleges. Along with this, the number of MBBS seats in the state has also doubled. CM Yogi was addressing the people during the inauguration program of the state's first PPP mode KMC Medical College in Maharajganj on Friday. He said that since independence, the Terai districts have had to bear the brunt of continuous neglect. The Terai areas were never on the agenda of the governments. But now Maharajganj is no longer neglected, today itself various projects worth Rs 940 crore have been gifted here.

The Chief Minister said that once the only BRD Medical College of eastern UP in Gorakhpur was itself in a 'sick' condition. But today it is giving healthy competition to Gorakhpur AIIMS. He said that when he took power in the state in 2017, UP did not even have money to pay salaries, but due to everyone's support and teamwork, today the result is in front of everyone. He expressed special satisfaction over the fact that till now 5.14 crore poor people in UP have been provided the golden card of Ayushman Bharat Yojana.

He also mentioned that earlier there were only 18 medical colleges in UP, but today medical colleges have been built in 64 districts. He said that medical colleges not only provide health facilities but their construction also promotes jobs and self-employment. The CM said that the government's entire focus is on providing good connectivity to the newly built medical colleges in UP. He said that along with medical colleges, nursing, and paramedical colleges are also being constructed on a war footing in the state.

The Chief Minister mentioned the upcoming Lord Dhanvantari Jayanti on October 30. He said that even before the birth anniversary of the god of health and wellness, Maharajganj is getting the gift of the state's first PPP-mode medical college. CM Yogi thanked Shanti Foundation President and KMC Medical College founder Vinay Kumar Srivastava and his entire team. The CM said that 150 children have been admitted here. He said that the Terai region has been continuously neglected since independence.
