Maharashtra Assembly Election: The meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party's election committee in Delhi regarding the Maharashtra assembly elections has ended. This meeting lasted for more than two hours. If sources are to be believed, candidates have been decided for 150 seats in Maharashtra. However, it has not been announced when the candidates will be announced.
Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda, and other CEC members, the meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, party's state unit president Chandrashekhar Bawankule and some other prominent leaders of the state. According to sources, the CEC discussed the seats on which the BJP is keen to field its candidates in the 288-member assembly elections.
BJP can contest elections on 150 seats
BJP sources said the party will contest around 150 seats, leaving the rest for Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar-led NCP. Earlier, Bawankule said Shinde should be ready to make sacrifices in terms of seat sharing for the assembly elections just like the BJP has done to maintain the alliance. He said, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde should think with an open mind and should also be ready to make sacrifices. We have also made sacrifices to maintain the alliance. The BJP's aim is to contest the seats that we had earlier. Voting in Maharashtra is to be held on November 20 and counting will take place on November 23.
