Assembly Elections 2024 : Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) leaders on Friday alleged that the names of voters inclined towards opposition parties were being removed from the voter list for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. Addressing a press conference, leaders of Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) claimed that there is no transparency in the functioning of the Election Commission and its officials are working under pressure from the ruling parties. They said that the MVA would raise the issue before the Election Commission.
Congress made serious allegations against the Election Commission.
Voting for the assembly elections in Maharashtra will be held on November 20 and counting of votes will be held on November 23. MVA leaders, especially Congress' Maharashtra unit president Nana Patole, demanded the removal of state Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla for free and fair elections. Patole alleged that under the Election Commission's Form-7, names are removed from the voter list for various reasons. But under this, the names of voters inclined towards opposition parties are being removed. All this is happening at the behest of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Patole said, "The names of people who are inclined towards Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP) are being removed from the voter list. This is being done because the BJP is losing elections."
The Leader of the Opposition also made a big claim on the voter list.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and leader of opposition in the Legislative Council Ambadas Danve claimed that 6,000 voters' names were missing from the list in Nashik Central Assembly constituency and no action was taken despite raising the issue with the collector. He claimed that about 27,000 voters were added to the voter list in Aurangabad Central and Sillod seats won by the ruling parties.
NCP (SP) leader Jitendra Awhad demanded that the Election Commission publish a white paper on the voter list. He said that the print of the voter list is so bad that it cannot be read. He claimed that the names, addresses, and photos were also wrong. Awhad said, "The way the elections are being conducted is suspicious. It is shameful."
