Surat: Normally if a person commits murder, he is sentenced to life imprisonment. But, a man-eating leopard in Surat has been sentenced to life imprisonment. The man-eating leopard caught from Mandvi in ​​Surat district became the first prisoner of the rehabilitation center of Jhankhwav and now he will spend the rest of his life as a prisoner. At present, the number of leopards in Surat district has reached 150. In the last six months, three incidents of attack on humans have been reported in which three people have died. However, whenever a leopard becomes a man-eater, then it is sent to a rehabilitation center. Till now there was no such center in South Gujarat. Everyone was sent to Vadodara. For the first time, this man-eating leopard has been brought to the rehabilitation center made for violent animals in Surat district itself.

This center has been built in Surat district for Rs 1.50 crore. There is a provision to keep 10 leopards at a time here. Deputy Conservator of Forest (DCF) Anand Kumar said that any leopard that is found attacking a person, we mark it, catch it immediately, and put it into rehabilitation so that it can never attack anyone again.

A jungle-like environment in the center

He said that for this we have also arranged a center to keep leopards in Surat, in which all such leopards are being kept who are attacking someone. We can keep 10 leopards in such a center, in which facilities have also been made for their maintenance. We have created a jungle-like environment in the center, so that they do not face any kind of inconvenience.
