Manmohan Singh Memorial: A team of top officials of the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry on Thursday visited some sites at Vijay Ghat, National Memorial, and surrounding areas for the memorial of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Sources gave this information. However, they said that no final decision has been taken yet on where the memorial will be built. Several meetings have been held between officials of the Union Home Ministry and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to finalize the place for Manmohan's memorial. Earlier, officials of the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) also visited the sites around Sanjay Gandhi Memorial and National Memorial and identified some places for Manmohan's memorial.
Congress accused the government of insulting Manmohan Singh
According to the information, Manmohan Singh's family has been informed about these places and they will soon tell their choice. After this, the land will be allotted to a trust, which will look after the construction and maintenance of the memorial. This whole matter came to light after the controversy over not giving the authorized place for the funeral of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Opposition parties, especially Congress, had accused the government of insulting Manmohan Singh.
