Meta mark Zuckerberg, CEO Meta testified how he altered his social media input for the 18th Lok Sabha elections and the violation too. On Monday, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw rebuffed the statements made by Zuckerberg. In a conversation with joe rogan, Zuckerberg included India in the list of other countries whose democratically elected governments were replaced in the year 2024. In response to this statement Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw labeled it as factually incorrect. He stated that the citizens of India reposed their faith in PM Modi as they were confident in the NDA’s capability to lead the nation and that India was the largest democratic country which sanctioned elections in 2024 with over 640 million voters over.

Talking about the effects the COVID-19 pandemic had on global politics Zuckerberg responded with “During the elections that occurred in 2024 amid global countries including India the common trend was that the sitting political leaders lost if they were re elected. This too seemed to have been the case globally .

Vaishnaw remarked that the ‘resounding victory’ PM Modi achieved while running for his third term is evidence of a competent government that has the citizens trust.

Zuckerberg's remark on factchecking being a political weapon, especially against the conservative media has stirred controversy with critics labeling it as an attack against freedom of speech. US President Joe Biden denounced it as ‘embarrassingly political’ while the International Fact Checking Network criticized it for its harmfully deceptive potential.
