Chandok, who is the Head of Microsoft India and SOUTH ASIA has made it clear that there will be no effect of lay offs on India during a discussion that tackled the next round of lay offs. Commenting on the situation, Chandok said, “No, not in India”.
Rudrahas, responding to the question claimed, “We are involved in so many projects over there. In fact, all over India there is more job creation going on.”
The number of Microsoft job cuts reported is around the same as last year’s, which was just over 1% of the total workforce, and this year’s layoff number is much lesser compared to the previous ones. In Early 2023 there was an overall cut of jobs by the company at the count of 10,000. the same goes for Microsoft – Activision Blizzard in January of the following year sacked 1900 employees after the deal worth 75.4 billion dollars went through.
Under the leadership of Satya Nadella as the current CEO of Microsoft since 2014 there have existed several restructures in the workforce that have targeted various divisions like Xbox, Azure, and Gaming among many other divisions. Xbox Canada suffered layoffs of 650 employees in September of 2024, alongside nearly 3000 gaming jobs that were eliminated last year overall.
“Here at Microsoft, we pick talent who perform exceptionally well,” a Microsoft representative wrote to CNBC in an email on Wednesday.
The firm was quoted saying, “We are the kind of firm which is fully committed to nurturing growth and development of people. Should anyone fail to meet performance standards, we take suitable actions".
