Karachi: Pakistan's controversial left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir announced his retirement from international cricket on Saturday, months after coming out of retirement to play in the T20 World Cup. Amir was banned from cricket for five years between 2010 and 2015 on charges of spot-fixing. He also had to go to jail for some time. He had retired from all forms of international cricket in 2020. But he changed his mind and returned to play in the T20 World Cup earlier this year.

Aamir wrote on his social media handle, 'After much thought, I have made the difficult decision to retire from international cricket. This decision is never easy but it cannot be avoided. I feel this is the right time for the next generation to take Pakistan cricket to new heights. Representing my country has been and will always be the greatest honor of my life. I would like to sincerely thank the PCB, my family and friends and most importantly my fans for their continued love and support.'
Such was the international career of Mohammad Aamir
Aamir started his international cricket career in all three formats in 2009. He played his first international match against England at the Oval in June 2009. He made his Test debut against England at the Oval itself. Aamir played 36 Tests, 61 ODIs and 62 T20Is in his career. During this, he took 119, 81 and 71 wickets respectively.
