Mumbai: A 25-year-old Air India woman pilot committed suicide by hanging herself with a data cable in her rented flat in Mumbai. According to the police, in connection with this incident, the police have arrested the woman's boyfriend on charges of instigating the murder. It was told that Shrishti Tuli, who lived in the Kanakia Rain Forest Building in the Marol area of Mumbai, committed suicide in the early hours of Monday. Police took her boyfriend Aditya Pandit (27) into custody on Tuesday based on a complaint by a relative of Shrishti. He said that Aditya is accused of harassing Shrishti, abusing her, and forcing her to stop eating non-vegetarian food. According to the officer of Powai police station, Shrishti was a resident of Uttar Pradesh and has been living in Mumbai for work since June last year. Shrishti and Aditya met two years ago while doing a commercial pilot course in Delhi and a love affair developed between them.
Suicide note not found.
The police officer said that the case of suicide came to light when Aditya left for Delhi by car. During the journey, Srishti called Aditya and said that she would take her life, soon after this Aditya reached Mumbai and found that the door of Srishti's flat was locked from inside. He said that Aditya opened the door with the help of a locksmith and found that Srishti was hanging from a noose with a data cable. After this, Srishti was taken to Seven Hills Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
He said that no suicide note was found in the house. According to the police officer, Srishti's relative later contacted the police and alleged that Aditya often harassed her and also humiliated her in public. The relative claimed that apart from this, Aditya also pressured her to change her eating habits.
Based on the complaint by Srishti's relative, Aditya was arrested under Section 108 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code. He was produced in court, which sent him to four-day police custody, the official said.
