What is the fare of Namo Bharat Train?

From 5 pm on Sunday, NaMo Bharat trains will be available to the public from 15 minutes. The fare from the first operational station, New Ashok Nagar station, to Meerut South in the direction of Delhi to Meerut is Rs 150 for standard coaches and Rs 225 for premium coaches. With the commencement of operations on this section, Meerut city is now directly connected to the national capital Delhi through NaMo Bharat. This will reduce the travel time by one-third, allowing passengers to travel from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South in just 40 minutes. So far, more than 50 lakh passengers have availed travel by NaMo Bharat trains which shows their popularity and impact. Construction work is going on at a fast pace in the remaining sections of the corridor, i.e. New Ashok Nagar-Sarai Kale Khan and Meerut South-Modipuram.

Access to bus stand, railway station and metro station will be easy

Out of this newly inaugurated 13 km section, 6 km is underground, including Anand Vihar, a major station on the corridor. This is the first time that NaMo Bharat trains will run on an underground section. The second station in this section is New Ashok Nagar, an elevated station. Both stations are located in Delhi. Multi-modal integration has been the core principle of the NaMo Bharat project. In line with PM Gati Shakti-National Master Plan, it aims to make travel seamless and convenient for passengers, thereby promoting the use of public transport to the maximum extent. NaMo Bharat stations have been designed and constructed in such a way that they are seamlessly integrated with existing modes of public transport such as bus stands, railway stations and metro stations wherever possible. To make this possible, NCRTC faced several technical challenges during construction, including complex engineering hurdles, but NCRTC successfully overcame them to ensure passenger convenience.

What are the facilities at Anand Vihar station?

⦁ Anand Vihar underground station is one of the largest stations on the Namo Bharat Corridor. Passengers will be able to travel from here to Meerut South in just 35 minutes.

⦁ The station is designed to facilitate multi-modal integration between six existing modes of public transport. This includes ISBTs at Swami Vivekananda (Anand Vihar) and Kaushambi, two Metro corridors (Pink and Blue Lines), Anand Vihar Railway Station and the city bus stand.

⦁ Through this station, passengers from Meerut and Delhi will be able to travel seamlessly to any corner of the country via Metro, ISBT and railway station.

⦁ To ensure seamless, convenient and safe travel of passengers, separate entry and exit gates and FOBs have been provided at the station.

⦁ As a special arrangement for the movement of vehicles and pedestrians in this station, three bridges have been built over the Ghazipur drain. Out of these, two bridges are used for the entry and exit of vehicles and one bridge is used exclusively for the movement of pedestrians.

What are the facilities at New Ashok Nagar station?

⦁ New Ashok Nagar is the first elevated Namo Bharat station to be operational on the Delhi section. Here, the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor crosses the New Ashok Nagar Metro Station at a height of 20 metres. Construction of a metro station at such a height above an already existing and operational metro station, without disrupting service, is a major achievement from an engineering point of view.

⦁ This station has been connected with the Blue Line of Delhi Metro through a 90 meter long FOB. Passengers will be able to reach the New Ashok Nagar Metro station without going out on the road. This is why this station will play an important role in the journey from Meerut to Noida. Passengers will be able to reach Meerut South in just 40 minutes from this station.

⦁ Two entry-exit gates have been constructed for the convenience of passengers from nearby areas of this station like New Ashok Nagar, Mayur Vihar, Vasundhara and Chilla Village.

⦁ To facilitate the passengers and promote the use of public transport, 2 parking lots have also been constructed here, with a total vehicle capacity of more than 500 vehicles.

⦁ Along with train services, a plan has also been made to build a commercial center here for the convenience of passengers.

What are the facilities for passengers?

Free drinking water and toilets are available at the Namo Bharat station premises. CCTV cameras have been installed for 24-hour surveillance in and around the stations. In addition, dedicated pick-up and drop-off areas have been created at the stations. Ramps and special, large lifts have been installed at the stations to facilitate easy access to wheelchairs and stretchers. For the convenience of visually impaired passengers, tactile paths have been incorporated in the station design, which aid navigation as well as ensure their safety.

Inside the Namo Bharat trains, specific spaces have been provided for wheelchairs and stretchers. A train attendant is available in each train to ensure assistance and convenience of all passengers. Additionally, panic buttons have been provided inside the coach and on platform screen doors for help in case of emergency.

Air pollution will be curbed

NaMo Bharat is a strategic intervention by the government to reduce congestion and vehicle traffic in the national capital region and curb air pollution. Once the entire Delhi-Meerut NaMo Bharat corridor is operational, it is estimated that over one lakh private vehicles will be removed from the roads and 2.5 lakh tonnes of carbon emissions will be reduced annually. The 82 km long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut NaMo Bharat corridor starts from Sarai Kale Khan in New Delhi and ends at Modipuram in Meerut. It has 16 NaMo Bharat stations along with 9 additional stations for the Meerut Metro, making it a comprehensive and transformational regional transit solution.
