The stock market is going through a rough phase, leaving investors concerned about their portfolios. Nifty and Sensex have fallen nearly 14% from their peak levels, while the Nifty 500 has entered bear market territory with a 20% decline.

At Groww’s ‘Ab India Karega Groww’ event, Radhika Gupta, CEO of Edelweiss Mutual Fund, reassured investors by making an interesting comparison. She stated, “Nifty is like Shah Rukh Khan – he has had bad patches but has delivered most of the time.”

Market Volatility: What Should Investors Do?

Gupta emphasized the importance of staying invested despite the volatility. She warned against making drastic investment changes, particularly in mid and small-cap segments, and advised investors to stick to their long-term strategies. She also encouraged women investors to remain rational and avoid panic-driven decisions, instead looking for opportunities during market corrections.

SIPs: The Key to Long-Term Gains

She strongly advocated for the continuation of Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs), cautioning that skipping SIPs during downturns could affect long-term returns. "If your money is giving you sleepless nights, your asset allocation is not right," she advised, urging investors to maintain well-balanced portfolios that align with their risk tolerance and financial goals.

Foreign Investors Pull Out Funds

Adding to investor concerns, Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) withdrew ₹34,574 crore from Indian equities in February 2025, following a massive ₹78,027 crore outflow in January. This brings the total FPI outflow to ₹1.12 lakh crore in just two months. The withdrawals are primarily due to rising global trade tensions and concerns over corporate earnings growth.

Market Recovery: A Historical Perspective

Despite the ongoing downturn, history shows that markets have always bounced back after periods of correction. Investors who remain disciplined, stay invested, and avoid impulsive decisions are more likely to benefit from future market recoveries.

Just like Shah Rukh Khan’s consistency in Bollywood, the stock market has historically delivered long-term gains. Staying invested, diversifying wisely, and sticking to a long-term strategy are key to navigating market volatility successfully.
