The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment & Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has officially denied rumors of caste-based discrimination circulating on social media regarding its recent police constable recruitment drive.

In a post on platform X (formerly Twitter), the UP Police Recruitment Board clarified that candidates are selected only after verification of caste certificates and not on the basis of surnames or titles.

Official Clarification from UPPRPB

The statement from UPPRPB reads:

"On the basis of the surname or title of some candidates, misleading comments are being made on social media about their castes. The UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board clarifies that no candidate is declared successful/unsuccessful on the basis of surname or title."

Further explaining the selection process, the Board added:

"Candidates are declared successful or unsuccessful only after verification of caste certificates issued by the competent authorities. The verification is conducted by a DV Board, which consists of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) level and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) level officers. The original caste certificate is thoroughly checked before final selection."

Recruitment Process and Exam Details

  • The UP Police Recruitment Exam was conducted from August 23 to August 31, 2024.
  • The final results were released on March 13, 2025, via the official website uppbpb.gov.in.
  • The recruitment drive aims to fill 60,244 constable vacancies.
  • Candidates who qualified for the written exam were required to appear for document verification (DV) and physical standard test (PST).

Addressing Misinformation on Social Media

The clarification from UPPRPB comes after several misleading claims surfaced online, alleging that candidates were selected based on their surnames rather than valid caste certificates.

By issuing this official statement, the UP Police Recruitment Board aims to dispel misinformation and ensure transparency in the recruitment process.
