PAK vs ENG Day 1 Highlight: Captain Shan Masood and Abdullah Shafiq scored centuries as Pakistan strengthened their position by scoring 328 runs for four wickets in the first innings here on Monday, the first day of the first cricket test against England. Scoring his first test century in four years, Masood scored 151 runs in 177 balls while opener Shafiq scored 102 runs. Both of them also shared a big partnership of 253 runs for the second wicket.

Masood hit 13 fours and two sixes in his innings while Shafiq's 184-ball innings included 10 fours and two sixes. However, England tried to make a comeback in the match by taking three wickets in the last session. At the end of the day's play, Saud Shakeel was playing after scoring 35 runs while night watchman Naseem Shah had not opened his account yet.

Fast bowler Gus Atkinson, playing his first Test on foreign soil, took two wickets for 70 runs. Spinner Jack Leach, who is returning to the team, took one wicket for 61 runs.
