PAK vs ENG 1st Test Highlights: England took an early lead in the three-match series by defeating Pakistan by an innings and 47 runs on Friday in the first Test cricket match that witnessed some new records. Pakistan's team was all out for 220 runs in the first session on the fifth and final day of the match. Salman Ali Agha (63) and Amir Jamal (55 not out) scored half-centuries from their side but they could only reduce the margin of defeat. Abrar Ahmed did not come to bat due to a fever.

Pakistan has become the first team that had to face defeat by an innings margin despite scoring more than 500 runs in the first innings. Pakistan had scored 556 runs in its first innings, in response to which England declared its first innings at 823 runs for seven wickets.

Jack Leach bowled brilliantly.

Left-arm spinner Jack Leach took all three wickets on the last day. He took four wickets for a total of 30 runs. Earlier, in the evening session of the fourth day of the match, fast bowlers Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carse had shattered Pakistan's top order. Pakistan started playing at 152 for six in the morning. Salman and Jamal did not let any wicket fall in the first hour and made a partnership of 109 runs for the seventh wicket.

Leach broke this partnership by trapping Salman LBW and then did not take long to dismiss the tail-enders, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah. England made the fourth-highest score in Test cricket in their first innings. Harry Brook scored 317 and Joe Root scored 262 runs for them. The second Test match between these two teams will be played in Multan from Tuesday while the third and final Test match will be played in Rawalpindi from October 24.
