PM Modi meets Chess Olympiad Winners: PM Narendra Modi praised India's young chess players for their historic achievement at the 45th Chess Olympiad in Budapest. Both India's men's and women's teams won the gold medal at the prestigious tournament in Budapest, Hungary.

India created history on Sunday when the men's team defeated Slovenia and the women's team defeated Azerbaijan in the final round to win gold medals in the Chess Olympiad for the first time. In the men's competition, D Gukesh, Arjun Erigesi, and R Praggnanandhaa won for India in the 11th and final round.

In the video shared on social media, Prime Minister Modi can be seen talking to chess champions like R Vaishali, D Harika, Tania Sachdev, Vidit Gujrathi, Arjun Erigesi and Praggnanandhaa. D Gukesh was the star for India in the tournament. He played a key role in India's title win by winning 10 out of 11 games in the open category.

Players gave gifts to PM.

During the interaction, the players presented a chess board to the Prime Minister following which Praggnanandhaa and Erigesi played a game of chess which left PM Modi mesmerised. Earlier, the Sports Ministry shared a video in which the Indian chess contingent can be seen leaving their hotel to meet the Prime Minister. The Indian men's team scored 21 out of 22 possible points in Budapest, defeating all their opponents except for a draw (2-2) against Uzbekistan.
