Pakistan Team Australia Tour: Former captain Babar Azam and fast bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah returned to the Pakistan team on Sunday for the limited overs series in Australia. All three were not part of the team for the last two Test matches against England. Pakistani selectors announced the ODI and T20 International teamslimited-overs for the tour of Australia and Zimbabwe starting next month.
Many new faces have been included in the team while senior players like Fakhar Zaman and Shadab Khan are not part of the team. Fakhar is facing investigation by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after he tweeted in support of Babar after he was dropped from the Test match against England. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will announce new captains for the limited overs formats at a media conference later this afternoon.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha are expected to be made the captain of the limited-overs team. The selectors have decided to use the ODI and T20 matches to be held in Zimbabwe to test new players. All the main players will take part in the three ODIs and T20 matches to be held in Australia. Babar, Shaheen, and Naseem, who were dropped from the team after the opening Test against England, have returned to the team for the Australia tour. However, they have been rested for the Zimbabwe tour. The Australia tour will run from November 4 to 18.
The three-match ODI and T20 series will be played in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe from November 24 to December 5. Pakistan will also tour South Africa for three ODIs, three T20s, and two Tests in December-January.
