Prithvi Shaw : Out of form Indian opener Prithvi Shaw was on Tuesday dropped from Mumbai's squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy one-day cricket tournament because of his poor form. This forced the upset player to ask, 'What else do I have to look forward to?' The tournament begins on December 21. The 25-year-old Prithvi, who was once considered one of India's most talented players and scored a century on his Test debut, has had a forgettable season.

Prithvi was dropped midway through the Ranji Trophy league stage due to fitness and disciplinary reasons but returned to the team for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy which Mumbai won. No franchise also bid for him in the IPL auction in November. His performance in the top domestic competition was also not impressive. He started well on a few occasions but failed to score a half-century.

Prithvi wrote on Instagram, 'Tell me Lord, what else do I have to look forward to? Despite 65 innings, 3399 runs (in Vijay Hazare) at an average of 55.7 and a strike rate of 126, I am not good enough. But I will keep my faith in you and hope people still believe in me because I will definitely come back. Om Sai Ram.'

Shreyas Iyer will lead the 17-member team which has been selected for the first three matches. Experienced spinner Shams Mulani has also not got a place in the team. Ajinkya Rahane led the team in the last season of the Vijay Hazare tournament. India's T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav has also got a place in the team. Mumbai will start its campaign against Karnataka in Ahmedabad on December 21.

Mumbai team is as follows

Shreyas Iyer (captain), Ayush Mhatre, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Jai Bista, Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dubey, Suryansh Shedge, Siddhesh Lad, Hardik Tamore, Prasad Pawar, Atharva Ankolekar, Tanush Kotian, Shardul Thakur, Royston Dias, Junaid Khan, Harsh Tanna. And Vinayak Bhor.
