Priyanka Gandhi nomination : Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is going to file her nomination papers on Wednesday for the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election to be held on November 13. Her political innings will begin from Wayanad. The Wayanad by-election is being held because the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi vacated the seat after winning Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Priyanka reached Wayanad with Sonia.

Priyanka Gandhi along with her mother and Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi travelled to Wayanad by road after landing at Mysuru airport on Tuesday. She was welcomed in Mysuru by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. Rahul Gandhi, chief ministers of Congress-ruled states, and several other party leaders will also reach Wayanad ahead of Priyanka Gandhi's roadshow in Kalpetta on Wednesday morning before filing her nomination papers. Rahul and party president Mallikarjun Kharge have also reached Wayanad.

Priyanka is pitted against BJP Mahila Morcha state general secretary Navya Haridas and Communist Party of India (CPI) senior leader Satyan Mokeri, who has been fielded as the Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate. Earlier on Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi had said that his sister would be the best person to represent his former constituency.

Rahul said, Priyanka would be the best representative

.Rahul said, the people of Wayanad hold a special place in my heart, and I cannot imagine a better representative for them than my sister Priyanka Gandhi. I am confident that she will be a powerful voice in Parliament for the needs of Wayanad. Rahul Gandhi represented the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency from 2019 to 2024. In 2019, he contested from this seat for the first time and won, but lost the Amethi parliamentary seat, a stronghold of the Congress family in Uttar Pradesh.

Last week, the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala officially launched its campaign for Priyanka Gandhi ahead of the by-election. Local Congress leaders are also expected to campaign door-to-door on October 26 and 27. Counting of votes for the Wayanad assembly by-poll will take place on November 23.
