Shahjahanpur: A 25-year-old man allegedly raped his 75-year-old grandmother in the district, police said on Friday. Citing a report lodged, Additional Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Awasthi said the incident took place in a village in the Khutar police station area. Awasthi said on the night of Diwali, the elderly woman was sleeping in her house. Then her grandson Akhilesh Kumar came, allegedly picked her up, and took her to his room, where he raped her.

The officer said that after this the elderly woman was allegedly threatened by her grandson that he would kill her if she told anyone about the incident. A case has been registered against the accused for rape and threatening to kill. The accused fled after the incident and the police are searching for him. The elderly woman has been sent to the medical college for examination.
