Mohammed Shami Injury update: The Indian cricket team is going to play a three-match Test series against New Zealand from Wednesday (16 October 2024). While there are many senior players in the team announced for this series, the name of fast bowler Mohammed Shami is still missing. Shami was expected to return after injury in this series but it did not happen. There is also doubt about whether the fast bowler will play in the Border Gavaskar series starting at the end of next month. Meanwhile, captain Rohit himself has given a big update regarding Shami's injury.

India wants Shami to be fit for the series, however, the captain is not confident about it. Rohit has said that Shami was on the way to regaining full fitness but got injured again. Rohit said that the team does not want an unfit Shami for the Test series and they are keeping their fingers crossed. Shami has been out of action since the ODI World Cup where he suffered an ankle injury. He underwent surgery and was on his way back to India but got injured again. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the NCA.

We cannot take unfit Shami to Australia: Rohit.

"Honestly, it is difficult to select him for the Australia series. He had an injury and his knees were swollen. That made his condition a bit worse and he had to start again. He is at the NCA with the doctors and physios. We don't want to bring a weak Shami to Australia. We are just hoping that he recovers," Rohit Sharma was quoted as saying by TOI.

Shami had dismissed the reports of injury.

Let us tell you that earlier many reports in the media had said that Shami would be out of the Australia tour due to the recent injury, due to which he is out of the Ranji Trophy. However, Shami retorted to these reports and said that he is working hard to recover from the series. He asked fans not to pay attention to the news coming from unofficial sources. But now Rohit has confirmed that Shami is really injured.
