Mumbai: India captain Rohit Sharma on Thursday said he felt like he has got a new lease of life after winning the T20 World Cup earlier this year. India lost to Australia in the final of the ODI World Cup last year but ended their long wait for winning the ICC trophy by defeating South Africa in the T20 World Cup played in the USA and West Indies this year.

After winning the T20 World Cup, I felt I had found a new life.

The Indian team led by Rohit won its first 10 matches in the ODI World Cup but could not overcome the challenge of Australia in the final played in Ahmedabad. While inaugurating the Cricket Academy in Ahmednagar, Rohit told the large number of spectators present there, "I do not speak Marathi very well but I will still try. Winning the World Cup was the biggest goal for us. After winning the World Cup, I felt as if I had got a new life."

The sports academy started in Ahmednagar.

He said, 'We are starting our cricket academy here and I hope that this academy will produce players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Jaspreet Bumrah.'

Senior players have been given rest from the T20 series

Rohit and some other senior players have been rested from the T20 series after India's impressive win in the two-Test series against Bangladesh. India will then play a three-Test series against New Zealand and then tour Australia for a five-Test series, the first of which will begin on November 22.
