Samantha Ruth Prabhu has once again spoken up about gender equality in the film industry, shedding light on the pay disparity between male and female actors. In a recent interview, the actress acknowledged that despite having stardom and a strong public image, she was often paid less than her male counterparts.
However, Samantha made it clear that she refuses to accept projects that fail to pay her what she deserves.
Samantha Takes a Stand for Equal Pay
Beyond just addressing the issue, Samantha is leading by example. In December 2023, she launched her own production house, Tralala Moving Pictures, with a commitment to fair pay for all employees—regardless of gender.
Recently, at the Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFES), filmmaker Nandini Reddy confirmed that Samantha has implemented pay parity in her company.
Nandini Reddy shared:
"Samantha is producing our first film, and she made it a point that male and female actors are paid the same. I was so proud of her."
This move is groundbreaking, as the film industry has long been criticized for its gender wage gap, where actresses often earn significantly less than their male co-stars despite contributing equally to a film’s success.
‘Maa Inti Bangaram’ – Samantha’s First Film as a Producer
Samantha’s first production venture under Tralala Moving Pictures is titled ‘Maa Inti Bangaram’. Not only is she bankrolling the film, but she is also starring in it.
Known for her strong, independent voice, Samantha has consistently challenged societal expectations—especially the misconception that a woman's primary goal is marriage and motherhood. She continues to inspire by advocating that women should live life on their own terms.
The first-look poster of ‘Maa Inti Bangaram’ has already been unveiled, and fans are eagerly waiting for more details about the film.
