Tight security arrangements in Sambhal for Friday prayers
After the violence during the survey at Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh last Sunday, the police conducted a flag march in the areas near the mosque on Thursday, a day before Friday prayers. Along with Friday prayers in Sambhal tomorrow, the survey report of Jama Masjid is also to be presented in the court. The lawyers of the Muslim and Hindu sides have completed preparations for this. Life is coming back to normal in Sambhal city. To create a sense of security among the people, a police team led by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shrish Chandra patrolled the busy markets on Thursday. Most of the shops in Sambhal city opened for the first time after the violence on Sunday.
ASP said that the situation is completely peaceful and normal. When asked about the security preparations for Friday prayers, he said, 'Adequate police force has been deployed in the area and we are ready to deal with any kind of situation.' Chandra said that the local police and the district administration have held a meeting with local Muslim religious leaders regarding Friday prayers. When asked about the hearing in the court on Friday and the presentation of the survey report of the Jama Masjid by the 'Advocate Commissioner', the lawyer of the Hindu side, Shri Gopal Sharma said, 'The Muslim side has to respond. Electronic shop owner Khushnawaz said, "We are sitting idle and it is difficult to earn money since the violence." Rajiv Varshney, district president of the All India Trade Union Federation, said, "This incident is very sad. Traders suffer the most in such incidents. People do not come out due to fear, which affects the business." Meanwhile, the police are investigating the violence that took place on Sunday.
