The decision has been taken at a time when Phase IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) has been implemented in the National Capital Region, which includes two districts of western Uttar Pradesh.

School Closed in Delhi Latest News 2024 — District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma said in an order, "All schools in Gautam Buddh Nagar district are directed to follow the action listed under Phase IV of the Graded Response Action Plan. Accordingly, it is directed that all schools shall close physical classes from pre-school to class 12 till November 23 and conduct classes in online mode only."

Ghaziabad District Magistrate Indra Vikram Singh issued similar directions, citing severe pollution levels. According to an official statement, Singh said, "All schools from class 1 to class 12 in Ghaziabad will remain closed for offline classes and will operate only in online mode till further notice."

Singh stressed on public safety amid rising pollution levels and said the order will remain in force until further instructions are given. Meanwhile, Utsav Sharma, Noida regional officer of the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board, said night-time inspections were carried out at construction sites in Noida to ensure compliance with the ban on construction and demolition activities as per GRAP orders.
