It’s official—Shah Rukh Khan is returning as Pathaan! The much-anticipated sequel to the 2023 blockbuster ‘Pathaan’ is moving forward, with Aditya Chopra reportedly locking the script after nearly two years of development. The film is set to go on floors in early 2026.
‘Pathaan 2’ Script Finalized
According to a report by PeepingMoon, a source close to the project revealed that Aditya Chopra has been working on ‘Pathaan 2’ since mid-2023. The sequel is designed to not only continue Pathaan’s story but also lay the groundwork for larger conflicts in YRF’s expanding Spy Universe.

Who Will Direct ‘Pathaan 2’?
While Siddharth Anand, who directed the first installment, won’t be returning, Aditya Chopra has yet to finalize the new director. Two potential names are:
- Ayan Mukerji, who is currently directing ‘War 2’ starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani.
- Aditya Chopra himself, who may step in to direct the film.
A final decision is yet to be made.
When Will Shah Rukh Khan Start Filming?
SRK is expected to begin filming for ‘Pathaan 2’ in early 2026, but first, he will wrap up ‘King’, an action thriller directed by Siddharth Anand and co-starring Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Abhay Verma. ‘King’ goes on floors in April or May 2025, with a 2026 theatrical release planned.
