A dramatic video capturing raging wildfires in South Carolina, with firefighters battling to contain the spreading flames, has gone viral. On Sunday, multiple wildfires swept through North and South Carolina, forcing evacuations and the establishment of emergency shelters as dry weather and strong winds fueled the blazes along much of the Eastern Seaboard.
Wildfires Burn Over 1,200 Acres in South Carolina
By 10 a.m. on Sunday, the South Carolina Forestry Commission reported that the wildfire had already consumed around 1,200 acres of land, posing a serious threat to communities in the region.

8:37 am - this is the most insane video I’ve seen of the wildfire yet. It was raging near Wyandot Ct. in The Reserve at Walkers Woods early this morning. Heroic firefighters were able to suppress the fire and save all of these homes. Video via Greg Staff. pic.twitter.com/nqkJxVHZXW

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued fire weather warnings from Georgia to New Jersey, citing low humidity, dry conditions, and strong winds as key factors contributing to the elevated wildfire risk.
"The combination of dry fuels & low relative humidity continues to raise concerns for dangerous fire behavior on Sunday," the NWS office in Columbia, South Carolina, warned. "While winds will be lighter, the dry conditions are forecast to continue being a problem."
Governor Declares a State of Emergency
With wildfires spreading rapidly, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster declared a state of emergency, ensuring first responders have the necessary resources to combat the fires.
"This State of Emergency ensures that our first responders, who are working tirelessly and risking their lives to protect our communities from these wildfires, have the resources they need," said Governor McMaster in an official statement.
He also reinforced the statewide burning ban, stating that violators will face criminal prosecution due to the extreme fire risk.
Firefighting Efforts Intensify
Among the hardest-hit areas are Horry County and Six Mile, where state resources have been deployed to contain the flames. Aerial firefighting operations are underway, with planes dumping water over burning forests.
The South Carolina Forestry Commission has mobilized ten bulldozers and thirty-four fire units to tackle the fast-moving blaze. Forestry spokesperson Douglas Wood emphasized the scale and intensity of the fires, warning that containment efforts could take several days.
