Spicejet: Aviation regulator DGCA on Tuesday said it has removed SpiceJet from the Additional Monitoring System (AMS). The move comes after the airline took steps to rectify the deficiencies and raised funds to meet its obligations. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had placed the airline under AMS on September 13 due to financial challenges.

Why the decision was taken

Financial challenges could have impacted the airline's mandatory obligations related to aircraft maintenance. As part of the enhanced surveillance system, DGCA conducted a total of 266 'spot' checks at various locations, the regulator said in a statement.

According to DGCA, it has been ensured that the airline takes appropriate steps to remove the deficiencies found during the investigation. The regulator said, "Given the steps taken to remove the deficiencies and raise additional funds in the company, SpiceJet has been removed from the enhanced monitoring system."

raised Rs 3,000 crore

SpiceJet, which is facing financial challenges, raised Rs 3,000 crore from institutional investors last month. Since then, the company has settled various outstanding liabilities, paid outstanding salaries to employees, and has also reached an agreement with some aircraft leasing companies.
