The Supreme Court has reprimanded the Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation for violating its order banning bulldozer action across the country. The court has issued a contempt notice to the Municipal Corporation while hearing a contempt petition against it in the case of bulldozer action on the Gurudwara.

Strict reprimand to Municipal Corporation

The division bench of Justice B R Gavai and Justice K V Vishwanathan, after listening to the arguments of the petitioner's lawyer seriously, considered this act of the Municipal Corporation as a violation of the court order. The petitioner's lawyer alleged that the Municipal Corporation demolished the Gurudwara and also took away the holy Guru Granth Sahib with it. He also presented evidence of the existence of the Gurudwara on the basis of old documents to the court.

Municipal corporation gave clarification

On the other hand, the Municipal Corporation administration claims that this place was designated for solid waste management, but the court rejected this argument of the Municipal Corporation and said that demolishing any religious place is a violation of the law.
