Alur: Mumbai made it to the semi-finals of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 cricket tournament on Wednesday by defeating Vidarbha by six wickets here due to a stormy half-century by Ajinkya Rahane, who is out of the Indian team. Vidarbha batted first and scored a huge score of 221 runs for six wickets, in response to which Mumbai won by scoring 224 runs for four wickets in 19.2 overs, thanks to Rahane's innings of 84 runs in 45 balls with 10 fours and three sixes.

Rahane and Shaw gave Mumbai a great start

Rahane and Prithvi Shaw (49 runs in 26 balls, five fours, four sixes) gave Mumbai a great start by adding 83 runs in seven overs for the first wicket. Left-arm fast bowler Dipesh Parwani broke this partnership by dismissing Prithvi. Captain Shreyas Iyer (05) and India's T20 International captain Suryakumar Yadav (09) returned to the pavilion early, taking Mumbai's score to 118 runs for three wickets in 11.1 overs.

Mumbai had to score 104 runs in 8 overs to win

The team needed 104 runs to win in the last eight overs. Rahane returned to the pavilion in the 16th over of the innings at a score of 157 runs. India's middle order batsmen Shivam Dubey (37 not out in 22 balls, one four, two sixes) and Suyyansh Shedge (36 not out in 12 balls, one four, four sixes) then shared a 67-run partnership in a little more than four overs to take the team to the target.

Earlier, for Vidarbha, Atharva Taide (66 off 41 balls, 10 fours, a six) and Apoorv Wankhede (51 off 33 balls, two fours, three sixes) hit half-centuries while Shubham Dubey played a useful innings of 43 runs off 19 balls with the help of three fours and three sixes.

Delhi defeated Uttar Pradesh

On the other hand, Delhi defeated Uttar Pradesh by 19 runs at M Chinnaswamy Stadium and entered the last four. Delhi scored 193 runs for three wickets with the help of Anuj Rawat's half-century (73 runs in 33 balls, seven fours, five sixes) and useful innings of Priyansh Roda (44) and Yash Dhull (42). In reply, Uttar Pradesh's team was all out at 174 runs. Priyam Garg scored the highest 54 runs from the team's side but he did not get enough support from the other end.

There was a tussle between Badoni and Nitish Rana

There was a minor altercation between Delhi captain Ayush Badoni and Uttar Pradesh all-rounder Nitish Rana when Badoni stepped back after taking strike twice. The on-field umpires had to intervene to separate the players. Mumbai will face Baroda in the semi-final on Friday while Delhi will face Madhya Pradesh on the same day.
