Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh died on Thursday at AIIMS in Delhi. According to reports, the 92-year-old former PM was admitted to the hospital around 8 pm on Thursday. An AIIMS statement said, "With deep sorrow, we inform about the demise of Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India, at the age of 92. He was being treated for age-related medical conditions and suddenly lost consciousness at home on 26 December 2024. Immediate measures were initiated at home. He was brought to AIIMS, New Delhi in Medical Emergency at 8:06 pm, despite all efforts, he could not be saved and was declared dead at 9:51 pm." Members of the cricket fraternity condoled the death of former Member of Parliament Manmohan Singh.
Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh posted on social media, "Sad news of the passing of Dr Manmohan Singh Ji. A visionary leader and a true statesman who worked tirelessly for India's progress. His wisdom and humility will always be remembered. My condolences to his loved ones."
Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh also paid tribute to him, writing, "Saddened by the news of the sudden demise of former Prime Minister, a complete gentleman and a visionary leader, Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji. What really set him apart was his calm and steady leadership in times of crisis, his ability to tackle complex situations across the political landscape, and his unwavering faith in India's potential. The nation will always remember Dr. Sahab for his contributions. My deepest condolences to his family and relatives. Satnam Waheguru."
Former Team India opener Virender Sehwag also took to social media to express his condolences. He posted, "My condolences on the demise of our former Prime Minister Shri Manmohan Singh Ji."
