Shradh is an ancient Hindu tradition. People who believe in Hinduism remember their ancestors during Pitru Paksha and pray for the peace of their souls as well as perform Shradh, Tarpan, Pinddaan, and donations. During this time, many people go to pilgrimage sites to perform Shradh to liberate the souls of their ancestors. Kashi, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Prayagraj, Gaya, etc. are among those holy places where performing Shradh gives peace to the souls of ancestors. However, those who cannot go to any pilgrimage site should perform the Shradh of ancestors at home. Today we are going to give you information about how you can perform Shradh at home.
How to perform Shradh at home
Before performing tarpan and shraddha for ancestors, you should know when is the death anniversary of your ancestors. You can perform shraddha for ancestors only after knowing the date of death in Pitru Paksha. On the other hand, the shraddha of ancestors whose death date is not known is performed on the day of Sarva Pitru Amavasya.
To perform Shradh for ancestors at home, you should first wake up in the morning and take a bath, and meditate. After this, wearing clean clothes, first of all, you should offer water to the Sun God. After this, you should prepare food of their choice for ancestors and this food should be offered to Panch Jeeva (cow, dog, crow, ant, and deities). After this, you should worship your ancestors. To worship, first of all, you should light incense and a lamp in front of the picture of ancestors, meditate on them, and offer cow milk, ghee, kheer, rice, moong dal, urad, and white flowers to ancestors. After this, you can donate as much as possible and feed Brahmins. By feeding Brahmins and donating on this day, the soul of ancestors gets peace.
The food that you have kept for five living beings during the worship of ancestors should be fed to these living beings after the puja is over. Along with this, you should pray to the ancestors for your happiness and prosperity. If you perform the Shraddha of ancestors at your home with this simple method, then many problems in your life will be resolved. Along with this, you also get relief from Pitra Dosh.
