Shiv Sena UBT Candidate: The Uddhav faction is facing many challenges in the Maharashtra assembly elections, already their organization is scattered, and broken, and now even the candidates have started leaving the field. Kishanchand Tanwani from Aurangabad Central seat has rejected the ticket given by Shiv Sena of Uddhav faction.
Why did Kishanchand Tanwani return the ticket?
Ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Shiv Sena (UBT) has landed in a weird situation as its candidate Kishanchand Tanwani on Monday decided not to contest from the Aurangabad Central constituency, citing a possible unfavourable situation similar to the 2014 elections. The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena had announced Tanwani's candidature last week.
Kishanchand Tanwani's claim
Tanwani claimed that he had withdrawn from the fray in 2019 due to a similar situation and helped Jaiswal win the election. He told reporters, "I sought help from Jaiswal for my electoral prospects but he did not come forward. I have not spoken to Uddhav Thackeray. I will talk to him and work according to his instructions. My AB (authority) form is with Shiv Sena leader Ambadas Danve."
Tanwani was in third place.
It may be noted that in 2014, Imtiyaz Jaleel of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) had defeated Shiv Sena (Undivided) candidate Pradeep Jaiswal from Aurangabad Central constituency of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city and Tanwani, who contested on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket, had come third.
Now who did Uddhav Thackeray make his candidate?
Addressing a press conference in the evening, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Ambadas Danve said the party's city unit chief Balasaheb Thorat will be the candidate from Aurangabad Central. "As per the order of Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, Tanwani has been relieved from the post of district president," Danve said.
