Islamabad: Former ICC elite umpire and three-time 'World Cricket Umpire of the Year' Aleem Dar will retire in 2025 after Pakistan's domestic season. He was part of the International Cricket Council's (ICC) elite panel of umpires from 2003 to 2023. He is currently in Pakistan's elite panel and is one of four Pakistani umpires in the ICC international panel.

I will now focus on charity work.

Dar said on Friday, 'Every great journey eventually comes to an end and now the time has come for me to fully focus on my social and philanthropic work. Umpiring has been my life for 25 years. I thoroughly enjoyed it and had the opportunity to umpire many historic matches involving great players from several generations.

Such was his umpiring career.

Dar made his first-class umpiring debut in Pakistan's domestic tournament Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in 1999 after playing 17 first-class matches and 18 List-A matches from 1986-98. He has umpired in 145 Tests, 231 ODIs and 72 T20s, and five T20 World Cups.

56-year-old Aleem Dar played 17 first-class matches and 18 List-A matches as a domestic cricketer in Pakistan between 1986 and 1998. After this, he chose umpiring as a career. He made his umpiring debut in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in 1998-99.
