Vigyan Dhara Scheme 2024 Launched: "Vigyan Dhara 2024" has been launched by the central government to spread science and technology to every student. Under this scheme, students of classes 11th and 12th will be able to do internships related to science research. Apart from this, UG, PG, PHD researchers will also get fellowship. Modi cabinet has approved the Vigyan Dhara scheme with Rs 10,579 crore.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh has given information. He said that this scheme has three broad components, first science and technology (S&T) institutional and human capacity building, second research and development and third innovation, technology development, and deployment.
10579 crores for the Vigyan Dhara Scheme
The Union Cabinet on Saturday approved the continuation of three umbrella schemes of the Department of Science and Technology, which were merged into an integrated Central Sector Scheme called 'Science Stream'. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told reporters that the proposed outlay for the Science Stream during the 15th Finance Commission period from 2021-22 to 2025-26 is Rs 10,579 crore.
Purpose of Vigyan Dhara Scheme
The Science Stream scheme is for basic research, and sustainable energy with access to international mega facilities. It is designed to expand the country's R&D base towards strengthening the science and technology landscape and improving full-time equivalent (FTE) researcher numbers.
The scheme will reinforce the Government's efforts towards promoting innovation at all levels from school level to higher education and for industries and startups through targeted interventions. Significant support will be provided to enhance collaboration between academia, government, and industries.
