Dubai, March 9, 2025 – In a nail-biting final at the Dubai International Stadium, Ravindra Jadeja sealed a historic victory for India, as they defeated New Zealand by four wickets with six balls to spare to lift the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The win not only reaffirmed India’s dominance in ICC tournaments but also made them the most successful team in Champions Trophy history. This triumph marks India’s third Champions Trophy title and the second ICC trophy under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.

A Thrilling Chase to Glory

Chasing 252 for victory, India found themselves in a tense situation at 183/3 after 38 overs. But after losing two quick wickets, the game hung in the balance. However, KL Rahul’s calm unbeaten 34 and Hardik Pandya’s aggressive 18-run cameo ensured India remained on track.

As the game approached the final moments, Jadeja held his nerve and struck the winning runs. His celebration was filled with emotion as he raised his arms while sprinting towards the non-striker’s end, momentarily bumping into a New Zealand pacer before quickly stepping aside to continue the team’s celebration.

New Zealand’s Valiant Effort Falls Short

New Zealand put up a spirited fight both with bat and ball. Daryl Mitchell (63), Michael Bracewell (53), and Rachin Ravindra (37)* contributed crucial runs to set up a competitive total of 251/7 in 50 overs.

However, India’s spinners turned the game in their favor, restricting the flow of runs on a tricky surface. Kuldeep Yadav (2/40) and Varun Chakaravarthy (2/45) played key roles in containing the Kiwis, as the Indian bowlers ensured that New Zealand never got too far ahead.

A Memorable Victory for India

While India’s pacers had a tough time due to the conditions, the spin duo controlled the middle overs brilliantly. This victory will be cherished for years to come as India continues to shine on the biggest stages of world cricket.
