CJI DY Chandrachud : Chief Justice DY Chandrachud has now given his reaction to the controversy that arose over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to his house for Ganesh Puja. The Chief Justice said that 'judicial matters are not discussed in such meetings and interactions. The judges of constitutional courts and the heads of the executive are quite mature in all these matters and they keep judicial matters separate from any kind of discussion.'

CJI will retire on November 10

The CJI will retire from his post on November 10. He stressed that such meetings are held regularly with the PM and Chief Ministers. The CJI said this while addressing the Loksatta Samvaad series organized in Mumbai on Sunday. He said that when the executive and the judiciary meet, no deal is finalized. In such meetings and interactions, instead of judicial matters, there is discussion about infrastructure in the judiciary.

'Meetings are part of a strong dialogue'

CJI said, ‘People think that deals are being made in these meetings but it is not so. Rather it is part of a strong dialogue between different departments of the government. The functioning of all three departments is for the good of the country. We are aware of our duties and the democratic system of governance. Similarly, political officials are aware of themselves.’

The PM went to the CJI's house in September.

Let us tell you that in the month of September this year, Prime Minister Modi attended the Ganesh Puja organized at the CJI's house. A political controversy started over this. Many opposition leaders did not justify the PM's visit to the CJI's house. Justice Sanjeev Khanna will now be the next Chief Justice of the country. Raising questions on the PM's visit to the CJI's house, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said that 'The Prime Minister is misusing religion in politics. As the elections came closer, the PM decided to go to the CJI's house for Ganesh Puja and also took a camera crew with him.'
