Maharashtra Politics: Will Devendra Fadnavis become the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra? A series of meetings are going on in Delhi to decide who will sit on the CM's chair. Maharashtra's acting Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, NCP leader Ajit Pawar, and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis are present in Delhi. They met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence. This meeting is being considered important in many ways before the Mahayuti meeting.
Shinde, Fadnavis, Pawar met Amit Shah in Delhi
Maharashtra's caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met Union Home Minister Amit Shah here on Thursday night ahead of the Mahayuti alliance meeting to discuss the power-sharing agreement in the state. Shinde, who came from Mumbai, went straight to Shah's residence at Krishna Menon Marg, where BJP president J P Nadda was already present. Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar are also expected to join him soon. Shinde told reporters here that he would not create any obstacle in government formation in the state and would abide by the decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Shah.
NCP chief Ajit Pawar and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis also reached the residence of Home Minister Amit Shah and both met him. It is believed that after the meeting of Mahayuti, it will be decided who will take oath as the next Chief Minister.
What did Sudhir Mungantiwar say about the CM's face?
On government formation and CM face, Maharashtra minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said, "Why is there so much hurry? Whenever parties used to win Maharashtra assembly elections, they always took 14 to 15 days, to form the government in the state. There should be no hurry." In the statement of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Ambadas Danve, he said, "Congress has a lot of arrogance, the public has shown them the reality. One should never be arrogant, their only aim was to win elections instead of winning the hearts of the people."
Why is it taking so much time to form a new government?
Shiv Sena (UTB) leader Sanjay Raut on Thursday sought to know why the Mahayuti alliance was unable to decide on a chief minister and form a government despite getting a massive majority in the Assembly elections. The Mahayuti alliance retained power in Maharashtra by winning 230 seats in the elections held for the 288-member Assembly. The Mahayuti alliance comprises the BJP, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena, and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). The BJP got 132 seats, Shiv Sena 57 and NCP 41 seats.
Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Rautcriticizedd caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and said that it is unfortunate that he does politics in the name of Bal Thackeray, but the future of his party is decided in Delhi. He said that the future of Bal Thackeray's Shiv Sena was never decided in Delhi but in Mumbai. He asked, "They (Mahayuti) have a majority. In this, BJP has about 140 MLAs which takes them very close to the majority. Still, Mahayuti has not been able to give a Chief Minister to Maharashtra till now. What are the reasons for this?"
'What is the problem for BJP in deciding the next Chief Minister?'
Taking a dig at the Mahayuti, Raut said, "If you get the majority, you should get your chief minister in the next 24 hours. But the people of Maharashtra want to know what is the problem with the BJP in deciding the next chief minister." NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal said that when there is an alliance of two or three parties, it takes time to discuss and then reach a conclusion. Bhujbal said, "In some cases, it has taken a month. The swearing-in ceremony of the new government should take place in the next two to three days."
