Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and party candidate from Kalkaji assembly constituency Ramesh Bidhuri has once again come into controversy. He allegedly said that after winning the Delhi Assembly elections, he will make the roads of the area like the 'cheeks' of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi. In an alleged video that went viral on social media, Bidhuri can be heard saying, "I assure you that just like we built roads in Okhla and Sangam Vihar, we will make all the roads of Kalkaji like Priyanka Gandhi's cheeks."
Ramesh Bidhuri does not regret his statement
Reacting to his alleged statement about Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in a viral video, Ramesh Bidhuri, BJP candidate from Kalkaji constituency, says, "What Lalu Yadav - who was a minister in their (Congress) government - said - he should first apologise for what he said about Hema Malini. What I said, I compared it with what was said earlier. Pawan Khera should first apologise for what he said about the PM's father. We will reply to him in the same language he will use. Is Hema Malini not a woman? When two people make a mistake, both have to correct it. If the Congress corrects its mistake, we will do the same. This is hypocrisy, they have done nothing but corruption - so they need an issue on which they can seek votes. That's why they are making allegations against me."
First theft, then arrogance... It would not be wrong to say that this proverb is apt for Ramesh Bidhuri. Opposition parties gear up against BJP
Congress candidate from Kalkaji and Mahila Congress president Alka Lamba attacked Bidhuri and accused him of "insulting" women once again by using his usual indecent language. "Will the people of Kalkaji like a person who neither cares about the dignity of the House (Parliament) nor the respect of women?" she asked. Lamba demanded a public apology from Bidhuri for his statement and asked senior BJP leaders to clarify their stand on the issue. Mahila Congress workers led by her also burnt an effigy of Bidhuri over his alleged statement against Gandhi.

On the alleged statement of BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri in the viral video, Delhi CM Atishi said, "BJP is anti-women, it is an open secret and it is a matter of concern that the same BJP is in charge of law and order in Delhi. Ramesh Bidhuri's statement reflects the mindset of the BJP. If a BJP leader who has been an MP and is the party's candidate for #DelhiElection2025 can make such a statement, then how will the BJP provide security to the people of Delhi? ... The women of Delhi will give a befitting reply to Ramesh Bidhuri's statement and the BJP in the upcoming elections"
Sanjay Singh raised questions on Congress leaders
On the alleged statement of BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri in the viral video, AAP MP Sanjay Singh said, "Ramesh Bidhuri has made such a cheap and vile statement on Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. AAP leaders have also condemned it, but I am surprised that two big leaders of Congress, who call themselves champions of Delhi - Ajay Maken and Sandeep Dixit have not said anything against Ramesh Bidhuri. They do not have the courage to say even a word about the insult of their own leader. This shows that they have deep ties with the BJP."
Bidhuri has already become synonymous with Thetharai
When Bidhuri had abused MP Danish Ali in Parliament, he had probably forgotten that such words are not appropriate in the temple of democracy (Parliament), and that too being a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP, he was crossing all limits of decorum. Despite being an MP of the ruling party, Ramesh Bidhuri had abused opposition MP Danish Ali. When Bidhuri had made shameful comments on Danish, he did not feel any remorse even at that time. The result was that his ticket was cut in the Lok Sabha elections.
An aide of Bidhuri said that he made this statement on Saturday during election campaign in Kalkaji assembly constituency. Controversy over public statements is not new for Bidhuri, who has been a two-time Lok Sabha member from South Delhi and a three-time MLA from Tughlakabad assembly constituency. Bidhuri was widely condemned for his remarks on then Bahujan Samaj Party MP Danish Ali during the Lok Sabha session early last year. His behavior was referred to the Privileges Committee of the Lok Sabha.
