Justice Shekhar Yadav News: Preparations are underway to bring impeachment motion against Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav for making alleged controversial statement in the program of Vishwa Hindu Parishad. National Conference MP from Srinagar Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi has given a notice to bring impeachment motion against Justice Shekhar in the Lok Sabha. On Saturday, he said that he has given a notice in the Lok Sabha to bring impeachment motion against Allahabad High Court judge Shekhar Kumar Yadav over his remarks in a VHP program.

Mehdi said in a post on X, "Today I presented this impeachment motion with the signatures of more than 100 honourable MPs. I am grateful to them and I believe that there are still people in our country who believe in unity, plurality, equality and the values and spirit of the Constitution." He expressed gratitude to the political parties who supported the notice and his colleagues in Parliament.

Opposition got angry on the statement of Justice Shekhar

On December 10, Mehdi had said that he would bring an impeachment notice against Justice Yadav and for this he would need the support of 100 MPs.

Justice Yadav had reportedly said at a Vishwa Hindu Parishad event on December 8 that the main objective of the Uniform Civil Code was to promote social harmony, gender equality and secularism. A day later, videos of the judge's statement surfaced on social media, triggering strong reactions from several quarters, including opposition leaders.
