Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday congratulated the Indian women's hockey team for winning the Asian Champions Trophy (ACT) and announced a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh for each player of the team. This information was given in an official statement. According to the statement, all the players and the chief coach of the Indian women's hockey team will get a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh each while the support staff will get Rs 5 lakh each.
The tournament was organized for the first time in Bihar.
The Indian women's hockey team won the Asian Champions Trophy on Wednesday by defeating defending Olympic silver medallists China 1-0 in the final in Rajgir. "The Chief Minister praised the Indian team's game, especially during the final match against China. This is a historic win of the Indian women's hockey team in Bihar where such a tournament was held for the first time. It has filled the heart of every Indian with pride. All the players of the team displayed their skills and played in a very disciplined manner," a statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office said.
All players will get Rs 10 lakh each.
The statement quoted the Chief Minister as saying, 'This victory is a matter of pride and glory for all Indians. My heartiest congratulations to all the team members. The state government will give a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh each to all the members of the winning team and the head coach. Each member of the team's support staff will also be given a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh each. My best wishes to the Indian women's team for the future.'
